5 years Bilateral Strategic Partnership agreement with PIE

The Ethiopian Water Technology Institute (EWTI), and Plan International Ethiopia (PIE) have signed bilateral Strategic Partnership alliance to WASH Sector’s Capacity development throughout the country.

The two-cornered agreement was signed on Monday 28th June 2021 at the Head Quarter of the Ethiopian Water Technology Institute between H.E. Tamene Hailu (PhD), Director General of the Institute and Mr. Hiwotie Simachew Deputy Country Director – Humanitarian Plan International Ethiopia – Country Office. Concerned Management members from EWTI and Mihretu Belayneh – Project Manager, YEE Project (DANIDA) Plan International Ethiopia Country Office were presenting during the bilateral agreement signing and launching ceremony.

The objective of the 5 years strategic partnership agreement is to maintain the collaboration efforts of PIE and EWTI to mutually identify and work in areas of collaboration reaching various beneficiary groups related to water sector development and management. The specific objectives include but not limited to:

1. Support one another in improving training quality in water sector development and management in both public and private Technical, Vocational, Education and Training colleges where Plan International Ethiopia is operational

2. Review existing training toolkits/modules of capacity building components, which is used for WASH system strengthening capacity-building programs at all levels including Technical, Vocational, Education and Training colleges

3. Jointly design and deliver water sector specific capacity building trainings and provide follow-up support in relation to projects to be implemented in Technical, Vocational, Education and Training colleges and in refugee camp setups when found necessary

4. Conduct joint study and research related to water supply service improvement, environmental friendliness and sustainability

5. Evaluate post training progress jointly and develop best practices

6. Organize workshops and panel discussions related to service improvement in water supply

7. Conduct joint institutional capacity assessments in the area of WASH

The duration of this Strategic agreement shall stay for the coming five years from the date of signing of this strategic partnership. However, this agreement may extend for any additional period with agreement made by the two parties. Detailed project agreements will be made on a case-by-case manner based on availability of projects and related deliverables and tasks.
